Expenditures for servicing the state debt and obligations in the 2025 state budget amounted to 2 billion 399.6 million manats, APA-Economics reports, citing the Ministry of Finance.
During 2025, payments totaling 2 billion 99.5 million manats were ensured from the state budget’s expenditures on servicing the state debt, including 757.0 million manats for domestic public debt (136.8 million manats for principal and 620.2 million manats for interest) and 1 billion 342.5 million manats for external public debt (959.7 million manats for principal and 382.8 million manats for interest). Overall, savings of 300.1 million manats were generated in the state budget’s expenditures on servicing the state debt in 2025.
As of January 1, 2026, Azerbaijan’s total public debt (external and domestic) amounted to 25 billion 987.5 million manats, or 20.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) totaling 129 billion 94.0 million manats for 2025.
As of January 1, 2026, Azerbaijan’s external public debt, taking into account international bonds placed on global financial markets as well as obligations fulfilled for the actually used portion under loan agreements signed with various international financial-credit institutions and foreign banks, amounted to 4 billion 813.5 million U.S. dollars, or 6.3% of GDP.
The level of domestic public debt as of January 1, 2026 stood at 17 billion 804.5 million manats, or 13.8% of GDP.
