Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro will appear in federal court for the Southern District of New York on January 5 at noon local time (8:00 PM Moscow time), APA reports citing The New York Times (NYT).
According to her, the Venezuelan leader's wife, Cilia Flores de Maduro, is scheduled to appear in Manhattan court at the same time. The charges are expected to be read during the hearing. Judge Alvin Hellerstein will preside over the case.
According to court documents, Maduro is charged with conspiracy to commit narcoterrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of weapons and explosive devices, and conspiracy to possess weapons and explosive devices against the United States.
