About 20 representatives of Russian embassy in Iran evacuated to Azerbaijan

At the “Astara” state border checkpoint, the evacuation of foreign nationals arriving from Iran continues, APA’s southern bureau reports.

Today’s evacuees include individuals from the USA, Russia, Ukraine, and Italy.

Nearly 20 representatives of the Russian Federation’s embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with their family members, have been evacuated to Azerbaijan.

Each evacuee’s documents were checked, and they were sent to Baku by assigned transportation.

Among the evacuees, Simin Emili, an American citizen of Iranian descent, said: “I am very glad to come to Azerbaijan. It is an honor for me to say that my grandparents were Azerbaijani. They were born in Baku. That’s why being in Azerbaijan truly made me very happy.”

Note that some foreign countries have appealed to the Azerbaijani government, requesting assistance in allowing their citizens currently in Iran to return to their home countries via transit through Azerbaijani territory.
