A magnitude 5.6 earthquake was recorded off the coast of the Japanese island of Hokkaido, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre informed, APA reports.
According to him, the epicenter of the tremors was located 98 km east of the city of Kushiro. The epicenter was located at a depth of 12 km.
There were no reports of casualties or damage, and no tsunami threat was issued.
