The creation of the Victory Park in the city of Khankendi reflects the fighting determination of the Azerbaijani people for the restoration of historical justice and the protection of their territorial integrity, their unparalleled heroism, and the magnificent victory they achieved during the 44-day Patriotic War, said Afat Telmangizi, head of the public relations department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service public legal entity in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts to journalists, APA reports.

According to her, the total area of the Victory Park is 9 hectares: “44 steps have been built from the entrance to the park towards the Victory Arch. Information about the course of the war, including the names of liberated settlements, is written on the boards installed in their central part. At the same time, information reflecting the results of the anti-terrorist operation conducted in 2023 is also recorded on the boards.”

Afet Telmangizi noted that the height of the Victory Arch is 44 meters, symbolizing the number of days of the Patriotic War: “The building consists of 10 floors and a terrace. A structure symbolizing the number 8 in connection with Victory Day has been built on the terrace. The “Victory Gallery” exhibition hall has been created on the ninth floor.”

The head of the department said that large-scale landscaping and construction works have been carried out in the park, fountains have been created, and lighting and music systems have been installed.

“Special attention was paid to the protection of existing trees during construction work. In total, more than 500 trees and more than 11 thousand bushes, and flowers have been planted in the park.

The Victory Park will serve to effectively organize the leisure time of Khankendi residents and guests. In addition, the creation of such recreation areas indicates that the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories are continuing successfully,” Afet Telmangizi emphasized.

It should be noted that President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the Victory Park in the city of Khankendi on December 24.
