Another internationally wanted person extradited from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Azerbaijan

Effective cooperation measures are ongoing by the Ministry of Justice with the relevant authorities of foreign countries to apprehend and extradite individuals who are internationally wanted and accused of committing crimes, the Ministry of Justice told APA.

It was stated that today, another person who was internationally wanted by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Azerbaijan has been extradited to Azerbaijan by the ministry.

Specifically, Azerbaijani citizen Elchin Bayram oglu Tahmazov, who was accused of seizing 120,000 manats belonging to the victim (Article 181.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan) by committing robbery in collusion with several individuals in advance was located and arrested in Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the other accused individuals in this criminal case – Ramil Mammadov – had already been extradited from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Azerbaijan and handed over to the investigative authority on June 13, 2025.

The Ministry of Justice submitted the relevant request and required documents to the counterpart, and working-level negotiations were held. As a result, an agreement was reached regarding the extradition of these individuals to Azerbaijan.

Elchin Tahmazov was brought from the city of Sarajevo to Azerbaijan by responsible employees of the Ministry's Department of International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service, and, based on a court decision on arrest, was placed in the relevant pretrial detention center of the Penitentiary Service.
