Aram Sargsyan, leader of the Republic Party and former Prime Minister of Armenia (1999–2000), will be the party’s candidate for the position of Prime Minister in the upcoming parliamentary elections, APA reports, citing Armenpress.
Sargsyan announced this in a video posted on the party’s official Facebook page.
“Our party made this decision a long time ago, and this matter will be officially discussed: I will definitely be the candidate for Prime Minister, and I think this is natural,” Sargsyan said.
Sargsyan also added that he wants to see a force in the country’s parliament that fully aligns with Western values.
