The former mayor of Lugansk died in an explosion in the city center, APA reports citing TASS.
One person was killed and three others were injured in an explosion in downtown Lugansk, the regional government reported on its Telegram channel.
"An explosion rocked downtown Lugansk. According to preliminary information, one person was killed and three others were injured, one of them in serious condition," the statement said.
It added that law enforcement agencies are working to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to preliminary information, the deceased is Manolis Pilavov, the former mayor of Lugansk. Pilavov served as the city’s mayor from 2014 to 2023.
