23 injured in FlixBus accident in northeastern Germany

At least 23 people were injured, one of them seriously, when a long-distance FlixBus coach traveling from Denmark to Austria overturned early Friday in northeastern Germany, police said, APA reports citing Xinhua.

The accident occurred around 2:40 a.m. local time on the A19 motorway in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as the bus was en route to Berlin. Police said the most seriously injured passenger was trapped inside the vehicle for two hours before being rescued and airlifted to a hospital in Berlin.

Authorities noted that the number and severity of injuries could change as the investigation continues.

The bus was carrying 54 passengers and two drivers at the time of the crash. Passengers on board came from at least 20 countries, including Germany, Denmark, Ukraine, France, Italy, Australia, Syria, Japan, and China, reported local media.
