Bank reinforcement works to be carried out on river at Georgia-Azerbaijan border

Four tenders have been announced for the implementation of works to restore the banks of the Alazani (Ganikh) River, which flows along the Georgia-Azerbaijan state border, APA’s local bureau reports, citing Georgia’s Roads Department.

The total cost of the restoration works to be carried out in the Signaghi municipality amounts to 9.2 million lari.

According to the department, due to erosion of the Alazani River banks, there is a need to implement bank protection measures that will ensure the safety of the area and the stability of the riverbed.

“The Alazani Riverbed serves as a natural border between Georgia and Azerbaijan, and therefore the planned works are of particular importance in terms of protecting the border area,” the statement said.
