Azerbaijan–Italy relations discussed

On 27 November, During his official visit to Italy, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, Antonio Tajani, APA reports, citing Azerbaijani MFA.

During the meeting, it was noted with satisfaction that the Azerbaijan–Italy strategic partnership is developing at a high level, and the existing opportunities for expanding bilateral relations were reviewed.

The ministers highlighted that President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Italy last year and Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s official visit to Azerbaijan in September this year have further strengthened the political dialogue between the two countries. In addition, the participation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at COP29 and the regular meetings between the leaders were recalled with satisfaction.

The ministers reviewed the existing opportunities for expanding cooperation in the areas of energy, economy, trade, transport, culture, education, and defense.

The strategic importance of energy cooperation between the two countries was underlined, noting that large-scale projects implemented in this field play a crucial role in ensuring Europe’s energy security.
