Kremlin: Upcoming talks will decide recognition of Russia–Ukraine territorial realities

The talks to be held next week will determine who should recognize the territorial realities between Russia and Ukraine, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

He said at a press conference following Putin's visit to Kyrgyzstan that the fighting will stop when the Ukrainian Armed Forces withdraw from the occupied territories.

Asked whether this concerns only Donbas or also includes Zaporozhye and Kherson regions within its administrative borders, he replied: "We will not give all the details now. In fact, the President called for this yesterday. All this will be discussed."

The Kremlin official said that they would not disclose all the details of the possible parameters of the peace plan, because they did not want to discuss the Ukrainian settlement in a public "megaphone" format.

Peskov also commented on Putin's words that the Ukrainian leadership is illegitimate and that signing an agreement with it is pointless.

"You know, read Putin's words carefully. He was talking about the actual situation in Ukraine. On the one hand, there are legitimacy problems due to Zelensky's unwillingness to hold elections and abide by the constitution. On the other hand, everyone wants to resolve the situation peacefully," Putin's spokesman emphasized.
