Atletico Madrid reached the Champions League semi-finals despite their defeat to Barcelona

Atlético Madrid lost 2-1 to Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, APA reports.

Lamin Yamal (4th minute) and Ferran Torres (24) scored for Barcelona. Ademola Lookman (31) scored for the losing team. In the 80th minute, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity after the video assistant referee intervened.

The first game between the teams ended with a 2-0 away victory for Atlético Madrid. In that game, the Catalan team was playing with one man down from the 44th minute due to the sending off of defender Pau Kubarsi.

Atlético's next opponent will be the toughest of the clash between English club Arsenal and Portuguese club Sporting. The Londoners won the first leg 1-0 away. The return leg will be held in London on April 15.
