Volume of gas exported from Azerbaijan to Greece via TAP revealed

A meeting was held between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Greece’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Maria Papakonstantinou, the Ministry of Energy told APA-Economics.

During the meeting, energy cooperation between the two countries, particularly the importance of gas supply from Azerbaijan via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), was highly appreciated in terms of ensuring diversification, forming favorable prices, protecting the environment, and strengthening Greece’s role as an energy hub.

It was noted that gas supply to Greece amounted to 1.1 billion cubic meters last year. In total, 5.6 billion cubic meters of gas have been exported from Azerbaijan to Greece since the commissioning of TAP.

During the meeting, the importance of expanding the existing successful cooperation in the energy sector to other areas was emphasized, particularly discussing opportunities in “green energy,” energy efficiency, and innovative technologies. Issues related to holding the next meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial, and Technological Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece in Athens were also reviewed. In addition, the Greek side was invited to participate broadly in events to be held within the framework of “Baku Energy Week.”
