On April 3, First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Karimov met with Serdar Yılmaz, Practice Manager for the Public Finance and Procurement Unit at the World Bank, and Ms. Stefanie Stallmeister, the Bank’s Country Manager in Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports.
The meeting discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank, particularly measures implemented and planned in the field of public financial management.
A. Karimov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the World Bank, and that the measures implemented within this partnership are of special significance in improving the public financial management system. It was emphasized that the support provided by the World Bank in this area is highly appreciated and makes an important contribution to the effectiveness of ongoing reforms.
The First Deputy Minister of Finance added that the work carried out and reforms implemented in recent periods in the field of monitoring state-owned enterprises serve to increase transparency and accountability in this area, and it is planned to continue measures in this direction in the coming period.
For his part, S. Yılmaz expressed satisfaction with the long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan, highly appreciated the reforms implemented in the field of monitoring state-owned enterprises, and stated that the World Bank is ready to provide technical support in this direction.
During the meeting, an extensive exchange of views was also held on potential technical assistance projects that could be provided by the World Bank, as well as the tasks facing the State-Owned Enterprises Monitoring Agency and the work to be carried out in this direction.
The parties emphasized the importance of expanding experience exchange and opportunities for joint activities in this field.
