Objects containing, depicting, or imitating state symbols (flag, coat of arms), banknotes, their names, or recognizable parts will not be granted legal protection as industrial designs, APA reports.
This is reflected in the amendment to the Law on Patents approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
At the same time, objects containing, depicting, or imitating the abbreviated or full names of international and intergovernmental organizations, their flags, coats of arms, other symbols and signs, as well as the names and recognizable parts of those symbols and signs, awards, official insignia, control stamps, official marks, seals, distinction signs, their names and recognizable parts, as well as official names, images, or recognizable parts of cultural (including ethnic and religious) heritage objects belonging to any state without the consent of the relevant competent authority (institution) of that state, will not be granted legal protection as industrial designs.
