Russian citizens who took part in war in Ukraine may be banned from entering EU

The European Union (EU) may ban Russian citizens who took part in military operations in Ukraine from entering EU member states, said European Commission Chief Spokesperson for External Relations and Security Policy Anitta Hipper during a briefing, APA reports.

Hipper confirmed that the issue was discussed the day before at a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

According to her, the proposal was supported by several countries.

“This proposal was put forward by one EU member state and supported by several others. The EU is currently exploring ways to exert maximum pressure on Russia,” Hipper noted.

According to reports, the initiative was proposed by Estonia.
