On January 29, 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi, APA reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The situation around Iran was discussed during the telephone conversation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the recent tension in the region is a cause for concern, and that our country has always emphasized the need for all parties to refrain from steps and rhetoric that could lead to instability in and around Iran. It was noted that it is important to resolve existing problems only in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, through dialogue and diplomatic means.
It was specially emphasized that the Republic of Azerbaijan will never allow its airspace or territory to be used by any state to conduct military operations against neighboring Iran or any other country.
During the telephone conversation, views were also exchanged on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
