Traffic police officers were injured during an incident on Yeletskaya Street in southern Moscow, APA reports citing TASS.
A criminal case has been opened, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee reported.
"Investigators and forensic experts from the Moscow Investigative Committee are establishing the circumstances of the incident that occurred in southern Moscow, resulting in injuries to traffic police officers," the statement reads. The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow has opened a criminal case in connection with the incident, which occurred on Yeletskaya Street in Moscow, the Investigative Committee added.
Forensic experts and investigators are examining the crime scene alongside emergency services. "CCTV footage is being reviewed," the press service added. Forensic examinations, including medical and explosive tests, will be scheduled soon.
The prosecutor's office later confirmed the information about the casualties. "The prosecutor's office is overseeing the investigation into the circumstances of the incident on Yeletskaya Street, which resulted in the injuries of two traffic police officers," the statement read. The press service added that the oversight agency is also monitoring the progress and results of the criminal investigation opened into the incident.
