At least one person was killed and at least 26 were injured in a major accident involving more than 50 vehicles in Gunma Prefecture, central Japan, APA reports citing Japan Public Broadcasting.
An accident occurred on a local expressway. At least 10 vehicles caught fire in the accident, which, according to preliminary reports, was caused by icy conditions. According to emergency services, one elderly woman died, five people were hospitalized in serious condition, and 21 others received minor injuries. Several sections of the expressway in central Japan were closed to traffic due to the accident.
