Oil transportation via BTC decreased by nearly 6%

In January-July of this year, 21,553.9 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 5.3% less than the previous year, State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.

75% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), and 16,156.1 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline during the reporting period, which is 5.9% less than the previous year.

Of the oil transported through the BTC pipeline during the reporting period, 83.6% or 13,510.2 thousand tons was oil produced in Azerbaijan (a 3.2% decrease), and 16.4% or 2,645.9 thousand tons (a 17.7% decrease) was oil imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Recall that last year, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 2.5% less than the previous year. 76% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), and during the reporting period, 29,470.9 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which is 2.4% less than the previous year.
