European countries increase gas supplies to underground storage facilities

The level of filling of underground gas storage facilities in the European Union countries is approximately 63%, which is about 9 percentage points lower than the average indicator of the last five years, APA-Economics reports citing European Association of Gas Infrastructure Operators (Gas Infrastructure Europe, GIE).

It was stated that currently, the total volume of gas in the storage facilities of the EU countries is 69 billion cubic meters.

Note that, according to the requirements of the European Commission, EU countries must ensure that their gas storage facilities are 90% full by November 1 of each year in order to ensure the increase of reserves for the winter period in case of supply disruptions or abnormally cold weather conditions.

Recall that the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) started on December 31, 2020.
