Over 20 billion cubic meters of gas transported via Azerbaijan’s main pipelines this year

In January–June of this year, 20.2605 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines, which is a 1.4% decrease compared to the same period of the previous year, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.

55.5% of the gas was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline.

This pipeline is used to export gas produced from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field.

During the reporting period, 11.2357 billion cubic meters of gas were transmitted through this pipeline — a 1.6% decrease.

For comparison, last year 40.3483 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the previous year. Of that volume, 56.6% — or 22.8519 billion cubic meters — was transmitted via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline, reflecting a 4.3% annual increase.
