Grand Agro Invitro CEO: Sustainable cities cannot exist without sustainable agriculture

The real problem is no longer simply producing more food. The real problem is producing more food with less water, less waste, less impact on the environment and with higher efficiency, Ramil Azmammadov, CEO of Grand Agro Invitro, said at the conference titled “Green homes, green balconies: Hydroponic solutions in climate-resilient urban planning” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

“Every day cities are growing, urbanization is increasing, but the main question is: how will we provide food for these cities? One of the biggest misconceptions today is that agriculture is only a rural issue.

While cities continue to grow rapidly, agriculture faces problems such as climate instability, water scarcity, labor shortages and increasing operational costs. That is why the modernization of agriculture is strategically critical for the future of cities.

Agriculture is now becoming an urban issue. In all projections for 2050, we see that the world population is increasing rapidly. By 2050, the urban population will also continue to increase significantly.

At the same time, food security and food systems are becoming more fragile due to climate pressures and resource limitations. Cities depend on stable food supply chains, efficient water management and sustainable agricultural production. This means that sustainable cities cannot exist without sustainable agriculture,” Ramil Azmammadov noted.
