The Kremlin welcomes the start of direct contacts in Abu Dhabi, said the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the work within the framework of expert groups will continue.
Peskov stressed that the Kremlin positively assesses the trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States and an agreement was reached to continue this work.
He assessed the holding of discussions on complex issues related to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict as progress.
The Kremlin official reiterated that Russia is open to talks on Ukraine and that progress will depend on how constructive Moscow's interlocutors are.
