French President Emmanuel Macron promised a coordinated response from European countries to the US decision to impose tariffs on February 1 due to the situation around Greenland. He announced this on X, APA reports.
"Threats to impose tariffs are unacceptable and have no place in this context. Europeans will respond to them unanimously and in a coordinated manner if they are approved. We will defend European sovereignty," Macron wrote.
The French president assured that "no intimidation or threats" would have any effect on France. He stated that Paris had decided to join the military exercises in Greenland out of its commitment to the sovereignty of European states and the UN. The head of state also promised to discuss the current situation with France's European partners.
