Technical session of 29th IOTA General Assembly began in Baku

The technical session of the 29th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) has started in Baku, the State Tax Service told APA-Economics.

The technical session, held under the theme “Adaptive and Agile Tax Administration in a Rapidly Changing Environment,” was attended by heads of tax administrations from more than 40 IOTA member countries, representatives of international organizations, experts, and other guests.

At the opening of the technical session, Orkhan Nazarly, Head of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivering a speech greeted the participants and emphasized the organization’s role in promoting best practices and applying digital technologies. The President of IOTA noted that the challenges faced by tax administrations worldwide—technological changes, the transformation of global trade, and shifts in taxpayer behavior—require more agile management. The session held in Baku was devoted to discussions in this direction.

The session features presentations and discussions on topics such as innovations in tax administration, digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence in tax administration, improving relations with taxpayers, and other relevant subjects. During the two-day technical session, participants will exchange experiences and discuss new initiatives aimed at strengthening international cooperation.

Within the framework of the technical session, an exhibition showcasing member states’ achievements in innovative technologies is also being held. Azerbaijan is represented at the exhibition by stands reflecting the State Tax Service’s innovative projects in media and communication, tax risk management, and human resources management.
