“UN-Habitat looks forward to continuing cooperation with Azerbaijan, UNECE and all partners, and contributing to the development of more climate-resilient, inclusive and sustainable cities," Rafael Tuts, Director of the Global Solutions Division at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said during the session titled “Strategic Environmental Assessment Tool for Achieving Climate Targets in Urban Planning” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
“However, this struggle is also determined by the quality of the decisions we make before cities are built, expanded, reconstructed and financed. That is exactly why Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is so important,” Rafael Tuts said.
He stressed that strategic environmental assessment enables governments, cities and partners to integrate environmental, social and economic factors at the earliest stages of policymaking, planning and decision-making.
