Kvrivishvili: Azerbaijan is Georgia’s strategic economic partner

“Azerbaijan is Georgia’s strategic economic partner, especially in the energy sector,” Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili said in an interview with the Imedi TV channel, APA’s local bureau reports.

She emphasized that a package of historic agreements was signed within the framework of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Azerbaijan.

“The agreements cover the energy and transport sectors. Extremely complex and important negotiations lasting for months were held for the signing of the documents. Of course, an important role in these negotiations was played by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Georgia and his meeting with the honorary chairman of the ‘Georgian Dream’ party, Bidzina Ivanishvili,” the minister added.

According to Kvrivishvili, the agreements signed in Baku are of great importance for Georgia. She noted that the reached agreements once again clearly demonstrated how good-neighborly and friendly the relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are.
