Rubio will meet with NATO foreign ministers in Sweden on May 22

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden on May 22 and discuss Arctic security issues with representatives of several countries, according to a written statement from the State Department, APA reports.

Rubio will discuss with his NATO counterparts in Helsingborg "the need for increased defense investment and greater burden-sharing within the alliance." He will also speak with representatives of Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Finland, and Sweden "about shared economic and security interests in the Arctic and strengthening presence in the High North."

Rubio will also hold bilateral meetings with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
