WUF13 creates important opportunities for businesses in terms of cooperation, networking, and contributing to urban development, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said during the joint opening of the assemblies held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He said the forum is a platform where innovation, investment, and practical solutions come together:
“In this regard, I would especially like to highlight the new Business and Innovation Hub established within the framework of the WUF13 Urban Expo.
This center creates a platform for startups, innovative companies, architects, urban planners, and urbanists to meet, exchange ideas, and build partnerships.
Today, rapid urbanization, housing problems, climate risks, and infrastructure overload affect cities around the world. Under such conditions, the role of the private sector becomes even more important.
Private investments, innovation, and new technologies help achieve practical results more quickly.
At the same time, successful implementation largely depends on local and regional governments, because they are the institutions closest to people’s daily lives. Housing, transport, infrastructure, public services, and local well-being fall within their area of responsibility.”
Anar Guliyev stated that a new governance model has been introduced in Azerbaijan within the framework of large-scale reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories:
“This model is implemented through the institution of special presidential representatives. It helps ensure coordinated action, sustainable development, and the safe and dignified return of former internally displaced persons.
It supports urban planning, public services, environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage, and the rebuilding of communities.
This approach has become an important example of sustainable and people-centered planning in the post-conflict period.”
