In Dagestan, more than 20 people were hospitalized with intestinal infection

More than 20 residents, including 14 children, in the city of Karabudakhkent in Dagestan have been hospitalized with signs of an intestinal infection. There are no serious cases, according to regional Health Minister Yaroslav Glazov, APA reports.

"From April 2 to 4, 21 patients with signs of intestinal infection, including 14 children, were admitted to the Karabudakhkent Central District Hospital. There were no severe cases. The main symptoms for which patients seek medical attention are fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. <...> Hepatitis A vaccination and bacteriophage immunization are being administered at the outbreak site," Glazov noted.

A team of infectious disease specialists from the republic's specialized center, led by Chief Physician Rustam Shakhbanov, has arrived in the Karabudakhkent district and is working there. Rospotrebnadzor is determining the source of the infection.

"There have been cases of patients using unboiled water to clean children's equipment and utensils. It is important to use only boiled or bottled water," the Ministry of Health noted.
