Uraloğlu: Zangezur Corridor means huge time savings in freight transportation

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that the Zangezur Corridor will create a huge time saving in freight transportation, APA's bureau in Türkiye reports.

The minister said that work is underway on a transport corridor starting from Kars through Iğdır, Aralık and Dilucu to Nakhchivan, and from there to Azerbaijan via the Zangezur corridor and across the Caspian Sea.

Uraloğlu emphasized that when the project is completed, a shorter route will be opened to Central Asia and the Turkic world:

"The Turkish part is 224 kilometers. The foundation was laid last year and work is ongoing. Work is nearing completion on the Azerbaijani side, and a large part has also been completed in Nakhchivan. The project is planned to be completed within 4-5 years. As a result, there will be a huge time difference in transportation through these corridors. It will be reduced to 45 days by sea, 35 days by the existing middle corridor, and 18 days by the new middle corridor. This means a huge time saving," the minister noted.
