EU to send rapid response team to Armenia to counter hybrid threats

Foreign ministers of European Union member states have agreed to send a special rapid response team to Armenia to counter hybrid threats, APA reports, citing Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Armenian service.

The mission statement notes that Armenia is facing intensive hybrid activities, which could intensify further ahead of elections.

The mission is planned to be deployed in late March or early April for a period of 10–15 working days. The team, consisting of 9–14 members, will focus on combating foreign information manipulation and interference, as well as cyber threats.

The group will also advise the government on crisis management and intelligence sharing during various election scenarios, assist relevant authorities in detecting illegal election financing, and raise public awareness about foreign interference in electoral processes.

A report will be prepared after the mission is completed, which will determine Brussels’ next steps in relations with Armenia.
