Rossbach: Azerbaijan represents another legacy it has given to the world

“Today, Azerbaijan represents another legacy it has given to the world. Throughout the sessions, we have already mentioned a number of such examples," Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anacláudia Rossbach said during the event titled “Baku City Award: Scaling Housing Solutions for Global Impact” held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.

She noted that she wanted to connect several points together: “First of all, I would like to emphasize the importance of awards for UN-Habitat. Our partners are also participating here. Together with various partners, we have established strong cooperation in presenting awards. But why are awards so important? Because they allow us to collaborate with high-level curators, academic circles, experts, and civil society, and to identify successful practices that contribute to advancing the New Urban Agenda.

The second important point is that by collecting these practices, we provide practical public value to the global urban community. In this way, people can see what policy trends are emerging and practically observe how national governments, civil society, the private sector, communities, and local and regional governments solve problems. They see innovations, practical solutions, and successful approaches. UN-Habitat has a very broad partnership network. But this particular initiative is directly linked to the theme of the forum,” she said.
