Umayra Taghiyeva: Negative impacts of climate change to be felt in future

Climate change is a reality, and its negative impacts will become increasingly evident in the future, Umayra Taghiyeva, Azerbaijanchr("39")s Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, said at Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Olaylar informs.

She emphasized that countries around the world must now enter the adaptation phase: "Azerbaijan has a climate adaptation plan, which was also discussed at COP29. These adaptation goals must incorporate innovation and modern technologies. In some cases, ecosystem-based approaches may yield more effective results."

Taghiyeva noted that Azerbaijan is cooperating with the UN Secretariat on climate issues and receives technical support: "Azerbaijan will develop more projects to combat climate change and aims to contribute to the global effort."

She also highlighted the importance of joint action among Caspian littoral states in addressing climate change.
