A delegation led by Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Commander of the Air Force has visited the Republic of Uzbekistan at the invitation of Major General Akhmad Burkhanov, Commander of the Air Defense and Air Force of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense told APA.
It was stated that, first, the delegation visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Heydar Aliyev park-square in Tashkent, laid flowers at the monument, and paid deep respect and tribute to his memory.
Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade met with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, and his Uzbek counterpart, Major General A. Burkhanov.
During the meetings, the current state and prospects for the development of military cooperation between the two countries were discussed, and there was an extensive exchange of views on the importance of mutual visits to enhance experience sharing between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the field of military aviation and air defense, as well as other issues.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also visited the "Chirchik" airfield and one of the military units, getting acquainted with the activities of the facilities and the conditions created there.
At the end, a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed, and questions were answered.
