UN-Habitat chief: Azerbaijan hosted WUF13 at a high level

UN-Habitat Executive Director Anacláudia Rossbach thanked the Azerbaijani government for the high-level organization of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) during the official closing press conference of WUF13, APA reports.

“I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan for hosting the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku. The exceptional hospitality, organization, and leadership demonstrated throughout this week made WUF13 a truly global gathering,” Rossbach said.

According to the head of UN-Habitat, the forum once again confirmed its role as an important international platform for collective action for the future of cities.

She noted that more than 57,000 participants from 176 countries took part in WUF13, including more than 2,000 participants who joined online.

Rossbach stated that 55% of the participants were women and girls.

The forum was attended by 11 heads of state, 9 high-level guests, 88 ministers, 76 deputy ministers, and 130 mayors.

The head of UN-Habitat added that a total of 579 sessions were held within the framework of the forum.

At the “Urban Expo” exhibition, 260 exhibitors, innovators, and solution providers were represented. More than 74,000 visits were recorded at the exhibition.

According to her, 865 media representatives were accredited to cover WUF13.

“These figures demonstrate how great the need for urban solutions is. Cities require solutions, and partners are responding to that need,” Rossbach stressed.
