“Millions of young people and children suffer from a lack of adequate housing, live in informal settlements, and are exposed to the impacts of climate change," United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs Felipe Paullier said in a video address during the roundtable on “Children and Youth” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
He noted that climate change is no longer just a potential threat, as its effects are already being witnessed in reality and are impacting communities.
“Young people around the world are observing these consequences, coming together, trying to protect their communities, and proposing creative and innovative solutions. However, real power comes from decisions, strong institutions, and proper governance.
In conclusion, I emphasize that together we must build cities that are not only livable, but also belong to young people and to all of us,” he stressed.
