Work is currently underway on the construction of 3 more residential complexes in Shusha, consisting of a total of 43 buildings, Aydin Karimov, Special Representative of the President in the Shusha district, said at the event titled “Post-conflict urban planning: Restoring destroyed identity and rebuilding an integrated future” held at the Azerbaijan pavilion within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.

He stated that the buildings are no higher than 5 floors.

According to Aydin Karimov, this is intended to preserve the city’s appearance: “Currently, 377 families – 1,411 residents live in 23 residential complexes consisting of 450 apartments in Shusha.”

The Special Representative noted that the construction of a cable car line between Khankendi and Shusha is planned and design work is already underway: “The trip will take no more than 12 minutes. This will make an important contribution to the tourism potential of both cities. As the tourism and cultural capital, Shusha also hosts many local and international events. Shusha has twinning relations with 9 cities. Today, a twinning memorandum will also be signed with our brotherly Türkiye’s city of Trabzon, thus increasing the number of twin cities to 10.”
