Bayern surpassed Real Madrid's record for goals scored in a season in Europe's top five leagues in the 21st century

German footballers Bayern Munich set a record for the most goals scored in a season in the five major European leagues, APA reports.

In the final match of the national championship, Bayern Munich crushed Cologne 5-1 at home. Over 34 matches, the Munich team has scored 122 goals. The previous record among the top five European leagues was held by Real Madrid, which scored 121 times in the 2011/12 season.

Only Italian club Torino has scored more goals than Bayern in the history of major European championships. The team finished the 1947/48 season with 125 goals in 40 matches.
