The National Intelligence Organization (MIT) conducted an operation against an international espionage network that transferred sensitive information in Türkiye to foreign intelligence services, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
Within the framework of the Ankara-centered investigation, 7 suspects, including the person reported to be the leader of the network, were detained during simultaneous operations carried out in 4 provinces, while it was announced that 2 people were already imprisoned for another crime.
According to the information, the network collected sensitive information about non-governmental organizations, associations, public groups, and state employees in Türkiye and transferred it to foreign special services.
As a result of the investigation conducted, the network’s communication, reporting, and financing mechanisms were exposed, and a preventive measure of arrest was chosen for the 7 detained individuals.
