TRNC PM: We are ready to host OTS meetings

“The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus should be included in the joint tourism routes project across the Turkic world," said Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ünal Üstel at the meeting of prime ministers of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Baku, APA reports.

He noted that there is a greater need than ever for the environment of stability and trust that the OTS can create in order to end conflicts in the region: “As for the Cyprus issue, the only real solution is the recognition of sovereign and equal international status. Steps taken without accepting the reality of two separate states will further increase instability in the region.”

The prime minister also emphasized that Northern Cyprus will actively participate in all events and projects of the Organization of Turkic States and will continue to contribute to this cooperation: “Our country is ready to host meetings held within the framework of the organization at the level of ministers as well as working groups.”

He noted that Northern Cyprus is open to tourists from Turkic states as a maritime stop of the “Modern Silk Road.” For the sustainable economic prosperity of the Turkic world, areas such as energy security, the “Blue Homeland” strategy, tourism, technology, and education are priority directions. Hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean are of strategic importance for the Turkic world. The policy implemented together with Türkiye ensures the security of energy corridors.”
