Azerbaijan has extradited a person on the international wanted list to Uzbekistan, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
According to the information, the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the extradition of its citizen Abdullon Shadiyev, accused by Uzbekistan’s law enforcement authorities of large-scale embezzlement, for criminal prosecution was granted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.
A. Shadiyev was detained in December 2025 at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, and a preventive measure of arrest was chosen against him by a court decision.
A decision on extradition was made in accordance with the requirements of the Convention of October 7, 2002 “On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters,” and on March 18 he was handed over to the competent authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the escort of a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
