The extradition of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was not discussed during yesterday’s talks between Putin and Ahmed al-Sharaa, said Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, Vladimir Putin and Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa discussed trade and economic ties between Russia and Syria during yesterday’s talks: “The talks focused on trade and economic relations between Damascus and Moscow and their development.”
The Kremlin spokesman emphasized that the two countries have significant potential for cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and show mutual interest in it.
Peskov also said that Russia’s military bases in Syria were discussed at yesterday’s meeting, but he refused to disclose details.
