Israel has decided to reopen the Rafah crossing on the Gaza Strip border with Egypt, in a limited capacity and under full Israeli control, following the completion of the search for the remains of the last hostage, it was announced by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, APA reports.
"As part of President [US Donald] Trump's 20-point plan, Israel agreed to open the Rafah crossing on a limited basis for human passage only and under full Israeli control. The opening of the crossing was conditioned on the return of all living hostages and a full-scale effort by Hamas to locate and return all deceased abductees," the statement said.
The prime minister's office noted that "the IDF is currently conducting a targeted operation, utilizing all available intelligence, as part of its efforts to locate and return the remains of hostage Ran Gwili." "After the completion of the operation [begun on January 25], and in accordance with the agreement with the United States, Israel will open the Rafah crossing," the prime minister's office stated.
