US president says military operation focused on Colombia's government 'sounds good'

US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of conducting a military operation in Colombia under the pretext of combating drug smuggling, APA reports.

Speaking about Venezuela, which he called the United States' "sick neighbor," Trump used similar language to describe Colombia. "It's run by a sick man who likes to produce cocaine and sell it to the United States. He won't be doing it for much longer, that's what I'm telling you," Trump told reporters aboard his plane en route to Washington from West Palm Beach, Florida, where he was spending the Christmas and New Year's holidays at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Asked whether this meant the US was considering the possibility of a military operation in Colombia, Trump said, "That sounds good."
