At least seven people were injured by firecracker explosions in Dagestan

At least seven people were injured by firecracker explosions on New Year's Eve in Dagestan. One man had both hands severed, the republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported, APA reports.

"According to preliminary information from emergency services, at least seven cases have been recorded. The most serious incident occurred in Buynaksk, where a man born in 1985 was taken this evening with complete traumatic avulsions of both hands as a result of a mine blast injury. His condition has been stabilized and is not life-threatening," the statement reads.

In the village of Leninkent, a teenager born in 2007 was hospitalized with an eye injury. A boy born in 2015 suffered serious finger injuries and burns on a street in Makhachkala. A boy born in 2011 sustained a hand injury in an explosion on Gamidov Street. In the village of Semender, four children were injured in a single incident.

All were hospitalized in the Republican Ophthalmological Hospital.

Two adult men were also taken to City Clinical Hospital No. 1 with lacerations to their hands.
