Iran's President approved the appointment of the former Minister of Economy and Finance as head of Central Bank

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a decree appointing former Minister of Economy and Finance Abdolnasser Hemmati as the new head of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic, according to a decree was posted on the Iranian presidential website, APA reports.

"I expect from you <...> special and maximum attention to the organization and management of the foreign exchange market, the elimination of imbalances and the control of liquidity growth in order to support economic growth, maintain and increase the value of the national currency, and achieve social justice," the decree states.

It is noted that Hemmati has been appointed to the post of Chairman of the Central Bank of Iran for a term of five years.
