Paris Metro stabbings as 3 women attacked by man armed with knife at multiple stations

Three women have reportedly been attacked by a man armed with a knife while travelling in Paris, APA reports citing Daily Star.

The incident today (December 26) saw a man pull out a knife and stab three women at different stations on the Paris Metro line.

According to French publication Le Parisien, the attacks took place between 4:15pm and 4:45pm at the Arts-et-Métiers, République, and Opéra metro stations. The victims were quickly attended to by emergency services but the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

A local journalist saw a woman on a platform of line 3 at the République station being assisted by a security team. She had a leg injury and was visibly shaken.

According to local information, a suspect has been arrested in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise). "Thanks to CCTV footage, the regional transport security services (SRT), which are handling an investigation opened on charges of attempted voluntary homicide and aggravated assault with a weapon, have identified an individual born in 2000, known to the police for various offenses including property damage," the Paris prosecutor's office announced.
